This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how Retronyms, Inc. (“Retronyms,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information about you when you visit our website (the “Site”), use the Your Community App mobile and web applications (the “App”), or when we otherwise conduct our business and services; how we protect this information; and your rights in relation to this information under applicable law. 1. Who We Are

Your Community App (“YCA”) is a community engagement platform created and operated by Retronyms, Inc., headquartered at 595 Pacific Ave., 4th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94133. We help organizations (“Organizations” or “Customers”) build and manage branded communities, events, groups, and challenges across web and mobile.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Information we collect from you

Depending on how you interact with the Site and App, we may collect:

  • Identifiers: name, display name/username, email address, postal address, phone number, account IDs, unique identifiers (e.g., device IDs, IP address).

  • Profile & Community Data: biography, avatar/cover photos, interests, roles, chapter/group membership, skills, and other attributes your Organization chooses to enable.

  • Demographics (optional): attributes your Organization may request (e.g., affiliation, role, veteran/military status, service branch, gender, disability status) where permitted by law and voluntarily provided by you.

  • Commercial/Engagement Information: content you post (messages, comments, media), events and challenges you create/join/complete, check-ins, badges, purchases or redemptions, and other in-app activity.

  • Geolocation Data: approximate location (e.g., city/state/ZIP from profile or IP) and, if you enable device permissions, precise location for features such as nearby events, maps, and safety checks.

  • Financial/Transaction Information: when you make purchases or donations through the Site or App (e.g., tickets, memberships), payment card data is processed by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe); we receive limited transaction metadata (amount, timestamp, status) but not full card numbers.

  • Photos/Audio/Video: media you upload or capture in the App (e.g., profile photo, event photos, clips).

  • Internet or Network Activity: device and app analytics, logs, crash data, pages/screens viewed, referring URLs, clickstream, advertising identifiers, and interactions with Site/App features.

  • Inferences: preferences or characteristics inferred from your interactions (e.g., suggested groups/events).

  • Surveys & Support: responses you provide in surveys; information you send to support@yourcommunity.app.

Sources of personal information

We collect personal information:

  • Directly from you (account creation, profile, posts, messages, purchases, check-ins).

  • Automatically via cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies on the Site and App.

  • From your Organization (e.g., roster imports or admin updates consistent with their policies).

  • From service providers/partners (e.g., analytics, single sign-on, payment processors).

  • From publicly available sources where permitted.

3. How and Why We Use Personal Information

We use personal information for the following business purposes:

  • Identification & Authentication: verify your identity, secure your account, prevent fraud/abuse.

  • Providing & Improving the Service: operate, maintain, and enhance the Site and App; enable communities, groups, events, challenges, messaging, check-ins, leaderboards, and recommendations.

  • Community Features & Communications: connect you with groups/chapters; allow other users (and Organization admins) to find and message you consistent with your settings; send transactional messages (e.g., confirmations, reminders, updates).

  • Marketing & Personalization: personalize content recommendations; send product updates, feature announcements, and offers (you can opt out).

  • Research & Analytics: analyze usage, measure performance, fix bugs, improve reliability.

  • Safety, Security & Enforcement: detect, investigate, and respond to misuse, violations of our terms, and illegal activities.

  • Legal & Compliance: comply with laws, regulations, court orders, and lawful requests.

  • Aggregate/De-identified Use: we may aggregate or de-identify information and use it for any purpose.

We will obtain consent where required by applicable law.

4. Personal Information We Disclose to Other Parties

We may disclose the categories of personal information described above to:

  • Service Providers & Business Partners: vendors who provide hosting, infrastructure, analytics, push notifications, email/SMS delivery, customer support, payment processing, fraud prevention, and app development. These parties are bound by contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations.

  • Your Organization & Its Administrators: for enterprise/tenant accounts, designated Organization admins may access member rosters, activity metrics, events, challenge participation, and content consistent with that Organization’s policies and your settings.

  • Other App Users: certain profile elements are visible to other users (e.g., name, avatar, general location, groups/chapters you join, and content you post in shared spaces), consistent with your privacy controls and the community’s rules.

  • Legal, Compliance, and Safety: to law enforcement, regulators, courts, or others when we believe it is necessary to comply with law or protect rights, safety, and security.

  • Corporate Transactions: to prospective or actual acquirers, their advisors, and related entities in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

  • Affiliates: within the Retronyms corporate family for the purposes described in this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by CPRA; if this changes, we will update this Policy and provide required opt-out mechanisms.

5. Your Choices & Controls

  • Profile & Visibility: manage what you share in your profile and which groups/chapters you join.

  • Notifications: control email, SMS, and push notifications in your device and in-app settings.

  • Location: enable/disable precise location in your device OS.

  • Marketing Communications: opt out via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us (see Section 14).

  • Cookies/Tracking: manage cookies in your browser and device settings (see Section 8).

6. Retention of Personal Information

We retain personal information for as long as needed to operate the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to:

  • Maintain business records and audits;

  • Perform research and improve the Service;

  • Comply with legal/regulatory requirements and retention schedules;

  • Resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and address complaints.
    We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed, subject to legal holds and backup integrity.

7. Payments

Purchases (e.g., event tickets, memberships, donations) are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store full payment card numbers. Your use of payment services is subject to those processors’ privacy policies.

8. Cookies, SDKs, and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, mobile SDKs, web beacons, and similar technologies on the Site and App to:

  • Remember preferences and keep you signed in;

  • Measure traffic, performance, and conversions;

  • Diagnose issues and prevent fraud;

  • Personalize content and recommendations.

We may use third-party analytics (e.g., Google Analytics). Learn about Google’s practices and opt-out options at: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage cookies in your browser; disabling them may impact functionality.

Interest-Based Advertising (Site only)

On our marketing Site, we and certain partners may collect information over time across sites and apps to provide interest-based ads and measure campaigns. To learn about choices, visit AdChoices and the DAA Self-Regulatory Principles. Opting out limits tailored ads but doesn’t stop all ads or independent data collection by others.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site and App are for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided information, contact us (Section 14) and we will promptly delete it.

10. Data Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to help protect personal information against accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. No security measures are perfect, and we cannot guarantee 100% security.

11. International Users & Transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers (e.g., contractual clauses).

12. Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), including the right to:

  • Know/Access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected;

  • Delete personal information, subject to exceptions;

  • Correct inaccurate personal information;

  • Data Portability;

  • Opt-out of sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share as defined by CPRA);

  • Limit the use/disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information (we use any sensitive data, if collected, only for permitted purposes such as providing the Service and security);

  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the methods in Section 14. We will verify your request as required by law. You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.

Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83)

California residents may request information regarding certain categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes and the identities of those third parties for the preceding calendar year, subject to legal limitations.

13. Do Not Track

The Site and App do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. If this changes, we will update this Policy.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may modify or update this Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review it periodically. If we make a material change, we will provide notice as required by law (e.g., in-app notice or email) and update the “Policy Updated” date above.

Appendix: What Other Users May See in the App

Depending on your settings and the community’s configuration, other users may see your name, avatar, general location (e.g., city/state), group/chapter memberships, event participation/check-ins, badges, and content you post in shared spaces. You can manage some visibility in your profile and notification settings; Organizations may set additional rules and defaults.
